In a People House.

Cimg2255

This is one of Derek's favorite books and he is sharing it with Stephanie and Brandon to make it one of their favorites as well. Anyone who enters our 'home sweet home' can certainly pick up that we are indeed a "People House" (and an "Animal House" too!)

My boys read every day now and I still read to them every night before bedtime. What a wonderful way to spend time with your kids! Have you a read a good book to someone lately? Opportunities abound! If you don't have children of your own, borrow some! Read to children at your neighborhood school, senior citizens in a local nursing home facility, or even patients in a hospital. It's a great way to show you care!

Happy Halloween!

Yes, these are Jack-O-Lanterns. Derek's strong on the lantern part. It was getting dark and the rain was starting, but the boys managed to get their pumpkins done!

The Princess and the Pumpkin.

Watch your clock Stephanie, because that pumpkin just might turn into a carriage!

This morning Jen and I found ourselves at the Corn Maze Pumpkin Patch with 5 kids in tow. With oodles of pumpkins to chose from and so reasonably priced, the kids loaded up the truck with orbs of all shapes and sizes. The boys and I will carve tomorrow. but little Steph got hers done tonight and wanted to show it off!

Spilled milk.

There is something to be said for not crying over spilled milk. For one thing, in this day and age, it's pretty easy to get more. For two, sometimes someone less fortunate is there to benefit from your misfortune!

My sweetie!

We are having such nice fall weather and the husband is thouroughly enjoying his motorcycle rides. I just watch, ha. I am much more comfortable tooling down the highway with steel wrapped around all sides of me.

Have you hugged a fireman lately?

Cimg2225

There was no better game to be playing on Saturday than a game of waterball. It was Heritage Days in Union City and it was 88 degrees with humidity to match. The local area volunteer fire departments challenged each other to a playful tournmament while the community cheered them on. With a tie breaker going to Union City, they then asked for 6 females to suit up.

Well, you guessed it...I suited up. We were given a fireman's jacket and helmet and handed a hose. They put pressure to the hose to make sure we could handle it, instructed me to not hit the ladies in front of me in the back, and then set us up for a game. I was the back up...the fireman in the back. The object is to spray the barrel strung on the overhead cable until it gets to the other side. It was great fun, we got soaking wet (which felt good), and I have a new appreciation for fireman fighting fires in eighty something degree heat! The equipment is heavy, you can't see very well, and hanging on to that little hose is harder that it looks. So for all you fireman out there, my hat's off to you. THANK YOU for all you do!

Mrs. Graves is hoping you will visit!

Home Sweet Camper (Stephanie is bumming because she has to leave)

Derek, Brandon, Caylie, Michael, and Stephanie...the munchkins in our life!

We went for a weekend camping trip at Pokagon State Park in Indiana with a bunch of family from my dad's side. The weather was perfect and we all had a great weekend. We park on the non electric side, but we snag a spot by the lighted bathrooms, with hot showers! At my age, the real primitive camping has lost it's attraction. With water and a toilet just a hop, skip and jump away, and our little love shack that parks like a dream, Joel are I are as cozy as two bugs in a rug. I love campsite cooking and the quiet was awesome. It is so great hanging out in the woods for some rest and relaxation!
