Family Time.

Patricia is all smiles as she spends some time with her son, Steven and his friend Elizabeth. We have had a wonderful couple of days together and will be sad to see them go. While at the studio, Patricia shared with them her latest book, "January's Sparrow", due for release this fall.

"Meteoric" Visit!

Educators from Jennings Elementary School in nearby Quincy made a trip out to Union City with students in their summer program. After lunch in the park, we toured the town and all things Polacco, ending at the cemetery where the meteor headstone now sits marking the family's final resting place. Patricia inspired the students with a short talk, making it a memorable day for all involved.

Happy 65th Birthday Patricia!

Patricia celebrated her birthday on Saturday with friends and family. She started her day out at Hensley's Variety Store signing a few books and was presented with a surprise quilt from Lincoln Elementary School in Warsaw, IN. With illustrations based solely on Patricia's books, the kids from Miss Becky and Miss Dee's 3rd grade classes colored on quilt squares which Miss Dee promptly put together, making this beautiful handmade treasure. Following Hensley's, Patricia was treated to lunch at the famous Schuller's Restaurant in Marshall, MI, followed by an evening at Donna's for cake and treats.

Well hello there!

This is "Acorn", one of Patricia's Nubian goats. One of 10 goats in all along with 3 sheep, they are very curious and anxious to grab on to your clothing! Patricia raised 7 of them from the time they were just a few days old, bottle feeding them for months. (They will be 7 years old this spring.) Can you recognize this face in any of Patricia's books?

Here Come the Color Finishes!

Here is a page in progress from the book Patricia is currently working on called "January's Sparrow". To be released this fall, this unique book is over 100 pages long!

Here is another peek at Patricia's next book in the works, called "January's Sparrow". It is a long one, coming in at something like 113 pages! I will continue to show you her progress along the way. Once she has the pencil drawings complete, she will start in on the color finishes.

Ho Ho Ho, My Camera is Back!

My missing camera has rematerialized, so here are some pictures long overdo for the blog. These are from the 13th when Patricia hosted a GAW Center Christmas for the children of Union City. Prancer was on hand to visit and Derek and Michael were happy to introduce themselves. Surprisingly, many children were afraid of her and kept their distance!

We have an awesome face painter that attends Patricia's events. This is Derek's Santa imitation and below is a little fellow getting a string of Christmas lights painted across his face.

Patricia is hard at work on her latest project. I can't tell you much other than it is over 100 pages and sure to be a fan favorite! And yes, over 100 illustrated pages! I know I work for her and all, but they are awesome!~ Below is the 'secret' drawer where all the magic is stored while in progress. I love the secret drawer.

Patricia gets invited for dinner!

We are working furiously to ready the Graves House for Halloween. Patricia lost her head for the moment and luckily escaped to see another day! Patricia bought a few more tasty tidbits this year for the house and we have switched things up a bit. We'll be back at it tomorrow, playing with half torso creepy people and all things gross!
